Acquire competences in breaking glass-ceiling with Zarrouk Initiative

Updated: Mar 23, 2022

The glass-ceiling is a metaphorical expression used to explain inequality between men and women (Federal Glass-Ceiling Commission, 1997). Indeed, there is a set of invisible barriers that a woman confronts preventing her from reaching a certain level of success compared to her male counterparts. (Morrison & Glinow, 1990). These barriers to career advancement are stemming from institutionalized sexism or social exclusion, tokenism, lack of executive development opportunities (Ezzedine & Ritchey, 2009), gender stereotypes, lack of top management commitment to gender equity and equal employment initiatives (Bell, McLaughlin & Sequeira, 2002). These barriers are often subtle and tend to further solidify when a woman has children (Ragins & Sundstrom, 1989).
